“Through the Cross to the Light” — Père Jacques de Jésus scribbled these opening words in pencil as a spiritual testament in the Gusen concentration camp (Austria), in March 1945. Arrested by the Gestapo in January 1944 at the Carmelite convent in Avon, France (a scene depicted in Louis Malle's film "Au revoir les enfants"), this remarkable educator, whose beatification process is currently underway, will provide us with a robust Lenten path to follow as we walk towards the light of Christ.
